That’s why tech high schools are amazing!! Freshman year you get to do a week of every department then sophomore year you pick your top 4 you do a semester in each one and by jr and sr year you are in one department. I was running printing presses by sr year had a job and was a graphic designer while in collage.

My daughters school does this. They shadow amazing career paths. This week, she will be gone for 3 days shadowing marine and microbiologist. One of the reasons I paid to send my daughters to this school. However, we shouldn't have to pay. It should be easily accessible for all children.

We need to bring back take your kid to work day. Where you can go with your parent or someone else’s parent to their work with them. But we used to know how to act in corporate setting now kids act a fool

Or they get a degree and spend thousands of dollars going into debt at an early age just to not be able to find a job with that degree. All over the world is free colleges!!! Why is America like this?!?!? It’s like the system is set up for most of us to fail!

This is what happens when education experiences cuts. They used to have programs like this where they go to work or the person come to the school and talk about their jobs. Career exploration gets cut all the time.

As someone who hopped from job to job for my own sanity then was diagnosed with ADHD at 35yo, this is what I intended when I planned on homeschooling my kids. Never got to have the kids but if I had, job-shadowing would have been key. ADHD or not, so few people I know actually use the degrees they worked for.
