part 4 ; America’s New Underwater Monster Is Finally Here! On October 9th, 2026, the United States Navy published a short notice on a government contracting website. It carried a reference number, N00135-27-SSNX, and it asked a question that should make every American pause. The Navy wanted to know which shipyards in the United States are actually capable of building its next attack submarine. Not which company has the best design. Not who can build it cheapest. Who can build it at all. Interested shipyards had six days to answer. The submarine in question has no name. It has no hull number. It has no finished design. According to some estimates, each one could cost close to nine billion dollars - more than twice the price of the submarines America builds today. And its first boat may not reach the fleet until the 2040s, while China is reportedly launching around three new nuclear submarines every single year. The program is called SSN(X), and it is meant to be the most dangerous hunter ever to move beneath the ocean. This is the story of that submarine, the robot submarines being built to fight beside it, and the uncomfortable question at the heart of both: is America still able to build the undersea fleet it needs? #Aviation #ArcticLogistics #CruiseShip
