@drmerije: This is one of the oddest cases I’ve ever heard, in an athlete or otherwise. As a team physician who knows the complexity of what it’s like in the locker room, I know that we don’t have all the details and that only makes people speculate more. But given how public this story is and how COMMON blood clots are, I think it’s important to speak about this. Wishing Jalen well and I healthy recovery and hopeful RETURN to the game he champions. #SportsCardiology #Bloodclot #JalenHurts #PulmonaryEmbolism #Cardiology
Here's a risk factor many people aren't aware of. (Cleveland Clinic)

Is there a chance this was originally a clot in the superficial femoral vein, and it was mistakenly diagnosed as a superficial thrombus based on the name of the vein?

there are some athletes doing intermittent anticoagulation for long term secondary ppx after initial treatment .

I also had a feeling that maybe it was a DVT to begin with too. Never heard of a superficial clot causing a saddle or bilateral embolus

The story is the fact that they pushed him to play and to stay up before he played and to fly to Europe and back oh my God

I always thought it was interesting the length and details of the original press release was odd. It was also important that they included “superficia” in it. Why? From the beginning it felt very CYA.

I’ve played football until college and I know team doctors are incentivized to lie to keep good players on the field. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was any different.

The 36 hour thing has been taken back, he wasn't advised to stay up. Apparently he got some rest before the game & told the coach that he was rested enough to play.

They first said it was superficial. Then flew, and now it's in the lungs, bilateral

How do they test if he’d need it for the rest of his life?

Remember when they ask Sequan to give a receiving record so others could get a carry. And he agreed after coach pressured him. Something’s up w them.

Thank you thank you for properly explaining what happens, you left so much technical info out and rightfully so. It gets complicated and genetic testing and what not

his agent said that not sleeping for 36 hours part wasn’t true, he slept at the hotel and a bit at the stadium before the game

Had a DVT. Started in the foot went up my leg to the groin and was told DON’T MOVE. Size of a golf ball. If breathing changed it would be too late. All due to two broken bones in my foot. Felt it travel up my leg! Flying with this .. he’s lucky to still be alive in my book! I even had last rites given to me by a doctors recommendation. Scary shit!

I had a PE and extensive DVT during my 4th pregnancy. Was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden and the clot was literally from my pelvis to my calf (fully occluded 😳) and I’m not on thinners now. I take Proteolytic enzymes to be safe though!
