@suttersfortshp: When Sacramento received the news of California’s statehood on October 19, 1850, it was on the eve of the first reported cases of cholera in the city. From October 20th to November 10th (when there were no longer any reported cases), at least 800 people in Sacramento will pass away from cholera. That was roughly 10 percent of Sacramento’s population at the time.
