@joanjetski: there's so much to say about "You Can See Everything," it's been on my mind ever since. I could talk for hours about it, a truly wild ride! #youcanseeeverything #nathanfielder #filmanalysis #filmtok
thaaaaank you i feel like so many people are glossing over all of this, and im struggling to articulate parts of it myself so maybe it’s just harder for people to talk about. but there’s so much focus on elizabeth when i think all of this is the bigger point they’re making!!

i feel like people were so ready for this to be THE piece of media that answers all of the questions around how and why liz did what she did that the really fascinating way that the doc examines media and its inherent biases (in a way that really only nathan fielder can do) is getting lost in the shuffle. no amount of discourse is going to answer those questions which is the lovely and messy *point* of ycse

So glad to see this. I know some bristle at the idea of meta-commentary, but this is more a documentary about documentaries than it is about Elizabeth Holmes. And that’s a good thing! However you feel about Elizabeth Holmes, this film is an important reminder to everyone that truth is not as obvious as it feels to us. Especially truth told through someone else.

one thing I don't see anyone talking about but what points to this perfectly is THE PODS!!! they kept showing this huge line of uhaul pods almost as a signal like, hey, remember, these people are set dressers and pulling out the props they need to specifically curate a certain image

the cut to amanda wearing the sweater that liz said is her favorite is so intentionally fucked up, and indicates that we’re *supposed* to be a little skeptical of the value of these renactments as they continue. there is not a single person involved in this doc that doesn’t have a little bit of blood on their hands, and it really begs an interesting question: do stories like this become invalid if we’re unable to tell them objectively and stay above board, or do so entirely objectively? (imho, no.)

I agree with this being the big theme of the documentary. I’m not sure people are missing this point though. I do agree that many people are probably debating Liz, whether she’s being exploited by her partner, whether she’s delulu, etc etc. but I think debating the subject and WHY we think the way we think may help us arrive to the conclusion that we cannot know for sure because this documentary, the subjects, even Nathan are tainted. Even we are tainted with our biases and preconceived notions.
