@mothershipsg: On Oct. 19, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani co-chaired the 9th Qatar-Singapore High-Level Joint Committee (HLJC). This marked the first time the HLJC was co-chaired by the leaders of both countries in its 20-year history, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. In a Facebook post, PM Wong described it as “an important milestone in Singapore–Qatar relations today”, sharing how they have worked towards upgrading relations between the 2 countries to a Strategic Partnership. The upgrade is expected to open up new opportunities for cooperation in several areas, including trade and investment, energy security, AI and digitalisation. PM Wong also said that they look forward to strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council, as Singapore prepares to chair ASEAN in 2027. #mothershipabroad
