Every game you've ever played is lying to you 🎮 That world looks alive. It isn't. It's being destroyed and rebuilt 60 times every second, and you never notice. Here's what's actually happening inside a game, using a tower defense we built from an empty screen: 1️⃣ The engine gives you the laws. Unreal (Fortnite), Unity (a huge share of mobile games) or Godot (free and open source) already know how to draw, collide and play sound. They just don't know what your game is. 2️⃣ Code writes the rules. C++ or Blueprints in Unreal, C# in Unity, GDScript in Godot. 3️⃣ AI is just math. An algorithm called A* searches the map tile by tile for the shortest route. Block the path and it finds a new one instantly. A state machine decides when an enemy marches, attacks or runs away. 4️⃣ Physics takes over. Gravity pulls the cannonball down, bends it into an arc and detects the exact moment it hits. 5️⃣ Rendering makes it beautiful. 3D models made of thousands of tiny triangles, textures painted on top, and shaders deciding the color and glow of every single pixel. 6️⃣ The game loop holds it all together. Read input, move enemies, simulate physics, draw the image. Then do it all again 16 milliseconds later. And when 500 enemies flood the screen? Developers cheat. Far-away enemies get simpler models, and anything off-screen isn't drawn at all. Play online and it gets harder still: a server keeps the one true version of the game, and when your game's prediction is wrong, things teleport. That's lag. Watch the frame counter at the top. It never stops. 👀 Which game made you want to build your own? Tell me below 👇 Save this for when you start your first game 🔖 #gamedev #indiedev #gamedevelopment #unrealengine #coding
