I'm glad someone said, I felt like I'm too boring but then I thought why do I need to change who I am for social acceptance

We’ve become more like groupies than we are a community and that’s where we lost the meaning of love and life in general.

Oh the unphotogentic moments!! 🔥💯 like our parents did in their day. They're so special, unique and there's always a funny story behind them. "Yazi umalume wakho said/did this/that during that very moment." makes thee best photo album at a dinner table conversation!

Authentic connections are not necessarily aesthetically appealing because they are not performed. Anything that seems aesthetically pleasing is likely not authentic

Social media has ruined a lot of things man and most people pretend to be something they are not just for public validation 😭

I’m the friend that gets called when they are going through it to trauma dump but I see WhatsApp statuses of them outside with other “friends”, nights out, fancy dinners, farmers markets etc. Used to think we’re both chilled homebodies kanti it’s me they don’t wanna be outside with[Tears of joy]

I’ve met people who portray themselves as wanting genuine, authentic connections, only for their actions to prove otherwise. As someone with genuine intentions, I’m tired of people mistaking my kindness for foolishness. I don’t have a big circle of friends, I don’t like arguing, I don’t raise my voice no matter how upset I am at the person , I don’t cheat, and I genuinely try to love people the right way. At some point, I even started questioning whether I’m boring because I don’t bring chaos into relationships. 💔 Maybe some people have become so accustomed to toxic relationship dynamics that they struggle to recognise, appreciate or reciprocate healthy love. I’m tired of questioning my worth simply because someone couldn’t meet me with the same genuineness they initially promised. For now, I’m choosing myself, my peace and a break from dating. 😭

I could have scrolled after the first few words because you ATE🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. We are not even living, we are performing. I often find myself never posting the pictures I take because they felt like a performance

This is why i go home often to be with my parents...they are old & don't use smartphones...I make sure to not have data when i go there...believe me when i say i get to experience the purest form of connection🥰
I get to exist just as i are, i don't need to perform to fit in.

1000%. The most genuine & intimate moments and connections always happen when no one is looking/holding up a camera

I believe being performative is lack of self awareness. It's hard to relate because you'll never know the raw person.
