@scarletheart_th: The forthright and sincere 14th Prince / Chom Han, who is loyal to his brothers and to Fongnuan, but estranged from his full brother, Mueang Fah. To save Fongnuan from the palace, he eventually marries her. #ScarletHeartTH #scarletheartthailand #fourthnattawat #tontawan #sadstory
I watched both Korea and China Version. In both dramas, the female leads travel back in time to their own countries.. This time, time traveling from modern Thailand to Myanmar ancient Konbaung Era sounds amazing lol. I thought its Myanmar series 🥰

In previous productions like The Last Duel by Nine Natthaphat, Nine expressed his gratitude to the people of Myanmar for teaching him about their culture and sharing their stories to help him portray Prince Mingyi Swa authentically. He also said that he was proud to have played Mingyi Swa and considered it the greatest honor of his life.
The series depicted Thai–Burmese history while taking the time to portray Burmese traditional clothing, culture, and customs with care and historical context. The actors also conducted proper research and studied Myanmar’s history and culture to understand the characters and the world they were portraying.
These productions acknowledged Myanmar’s cultural and historical identity and treated it with the respect and seriousness it deserved. That is why we were able to accept and appreciate them without controversy. The difference is not simply about using another culture’s traditional clothing, but about understanding its origins, respecting its historical significance, and acknowledging the people to whom that heritage belongs.

The series is said to be set in 13th-century Northern Thailand, and the costumes are said to be Lanna attire. Although the costumes may look similar, they are not the same.
In traditional Thai dress, the shawl is wrapped across the chest, with the fabric draped over the arm. However, as far as I have researched, this style, where the sleeves and chest are connected as seen in the current costume, does not exist in traditional Thai attire.
Although Northern Thai people share similarities and historical connections with the Shan people, none of their traditional costumes feature this kind of square neckline. Instead, their traditional attire is draped diagonally over the left shoulder.
Therefore, this costume is Burmese traditional attire.

Wait, are you time-traveling to Myanmar’s Konbaung Dynasty?
Why are some of the costumes, hairstyles, and floral hair ornaments in your trailers so similar to traditional Burmese fashion from the Konbaung era? Some of the outfits worn by the female characters look remarkably like traditional Burmese clothing.
I have no issue with Tai or Shan-inspired clothing, because cultures across Southeast Asia have shared influences throughout history. But some of these costumes look specifically similar to traditional Burmese royal attire from the Konbaung period.
Does Thailand have its own rich traditional clothing and cultural heritage? Of course it does. So why not showcase your own historical fashion instead of using costumes that look so much like another country’s cultural heritage?
I usually don’t want to criticize historical dramas just because they feature Burmese traditional clothing. But this is different. Scarlet Heart Thailand is a Thai adaptation of a Korean drama, yet some of the costumes shown in the trailers look strikingly similar to traditional Burmese clothing.
Myanmar’s cultural heritage deserves recognition and proper acknowledgment. If these designs were inspired by Burmese history and traditional dress, it would be respectful to acknowledge that inspiration rather than leave viewers wondering where these costumes actually came from.
Cultural appreciation is one thing, but cultural identity and historical heritage deserve respect.
