I think the bigger issue is people simply not having enough things going on in their lives outside of transit. Your happiness & identity should never come from a job. If you aren’t someone who can find joy and contentment in any situation then that trait will follow you everywhere you go because almost every job has the same core issues.

Me and my homie who I go to concerts with just did our separate exams the other day, He's doing the Conductor position while I'm doing Transit Cleaner. I wish people realise every job treat their employees like shit, you will always find negative stuff in any job

pension and benefits matter a great deal.also there's other tings too. being able to pay the mortgage, nice car in the driveway , put kids thru collage , a decent vacation.so for all the crap you put up with , l believe at the end of the day your ahead of the game

Preach mamma! This career path pays off in the long run. We have strict rules + policies but overall if things what you signed up for … it def gets better. The fact that anything over 8hrs in a shift is OT is AMAZING!!!!

I think there some correction to your video. The union keeps giving up benefits left and right. Now majority of workers are tier 6. Lets do the math you make over $100K. You paying 6% into your pension 2% into medical. Federal 24% and state taxes 8% comes out so far 40% of your check gone. Now disability insurance , life insurances , 401K and union dues comes out to what another 4%-10% of your check gone. Now near or half of your check gone. Now with the pension which the union paraded around Cuomo for making tier 6. Now example best of 5 year your tier 4 compare to tier 6. 25 years of service your best of 5 years 3 years you made 115K if your tier 4 you will take home $4,791 now if your tier 6 $4,414.

yeah sorry that's just negative publicity that you're trying to spread about how we should just bend over and take the jobs that we have. I have my own company and every single one of my employees are paid a LIVING wage including the 'custodial engineers.' their health insurance gets paid for by my company. they get full optical, dental and medical; including ER visits. if your company can't make money also supporting these systems then your company doesn't deserve to exist.
