Hot take: I’m not convinced Bitcoin survives 200 years. I’ve made money in Bitcoin. I know it well. I like it. But I don’t treat it like it’s guaranteed “forever.” Gold is different. It’s been money for thousands of years. It’s survived empires, wars, resets, everything. Bitcoin and gold are similar in one way: harder to inflate than fiat. But here’s the key difference nobody wants to talk about: Bitcoin needs continuous energy + hardware to stay secure. Gold doesn’t. Yes, both take energy to produce more. But gold doesn’t require energy to remain valid. If humanity hits a long period where energy is scarce/expensive, or infrastructure gets unstable, Bitcoin has a real vulnerability: security depends on miners miners depend on incentives incentives eventually shift more toward fees and that assumes the network stays economically attractive + operational forever Gold doesn’t have that dependency. If we stopped mining tomorrow, gold would still be gold. I’m not saying “sell your BTC.” I’m saying: don’t confuse “performed well” with “guaranteed to exist.” I personally like both.
