I got 90/90 in PTE, and I want to share the study tips that helped me prepare for the test. If you are preparing for PTE, remember that studying smarter is often more useful than simply doing more practice tests. Here are the things I focused on: 1️⃣ Don’t do too many mock tests. One thing I noticed is that doing mock tests again and again doesn’t necessarily help you improve. A mock test mainly reflects your current level and shows you what you can already do. If you keep doing test after test without working on your weaknesses, you may just be repeating the same mistakes. Instead, I recommend doing a mock test about once every two weeks. Use it as a check-up: look at your results, identify which skills or question types you need to improve, and then spend your study time working specifically on those areas. 2️⃣ Focus on Repeat Sentence every day. I strongly recommend making Repeat Sentence a daily habit. My routine was around 30 sentences a day. Don’t just listen and repeat mechanically. Try to train your memory, pronunciation, fluency, and ability to reproduce the sentence accurately. The more regularly you practise, the more comfortable you can become with this task. Consistency is more important than doing a huge amount of practice once in a while. 3️⃣ Learn how to take notes. Good note-taking can make a big difference, especially for tasks where you need to remember information. You don’t need to write down every single word. Learn to listen for keywords, main ideas, numbers, important details, and relationships between ideas. Use abbreviations, symbols, arrows, and short forms if they help you write faster. Your notes should help you remember the important information—not become a complete transcript. 4️⃣ Learn vocabulary every day. Vocabulary is something you can build little by little. You don’t need to memorise hundreds of random words in one day. Focus on useful words and phrases, especially vocabulary that you can use in different PTE contexts. Try to learn words in context, make your own sentences, and review them regularly. Even learning a small number of useful words every day can make a difference over time. Small steps can lead to big progress! 5️⃣ Don’t book the test when you are not ready. This is very important: don’t rush to book your PTE test just because you want to get it over with. Before booking, make sure you are reasonably prepared and that your practice results show that you are close to your target score. Give yourself enough time to improve the areas where you are still struggling. It’s better to be prepared than to rush into the test and feel stressed. 6️⃣ Sleep well before test day. Finally, don’t underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep. The day before your test is not the time to study until 2 or 3 a.m. trying to learn everything at the last minute. Get your things ready, relax, and sleep well so that you can go into the test with a fresh mind and enough energy. To sum up: Don’t waste your time doing endless mock tests. Use mock tests to identify your weaknesses, practise Repeat Sentence every day, improve your note-taking, build your vocabulary consistently, book the test when you are genuinely ready, and get enough sleep before test day. Most importantly, be consistent and trust the process. You don’t have to improve everything in one day. Keep working on your weaknesses, one step at a time. I hope these tips are useful for anyone preparing for PTE. ❤️ Good luck everyone!
