Tennisballs are notoriously bad for dog teeth. they have a sandpaper-like surface that wears down the tooth surface. Long term and as often as they have a ball on their teeth, it can cause really bad damage. It's better to simply use a different material ball.

There’s actually a tool for this, it is called a launcher or a chuckit depending on where you look but it’s quite helpful from what I’ve seen.
