We get so used to the smells in our own homes that we often don't notice them anymore. But when a buyer walks through the door, it's one of the first things they pick up on. Pet odors, lingering smoke, cooking smells, or a musty basement can all make buyers hesitate, even if the rest of the house looks fantastic. And here's the thing: covering those smells with candles or air fresheners isn't necessarily going to help. Sometimes it can make buyers wonder what you're trying to hide! The best thing you can do is address the smell at the source. Deep clean carpets and upholstery, replace HVAC filters, and investigate any moisture issues that could be contributing to unpleasant odors. You don't need your home smelling like a candle store to impress buyers.
