@mariposasoltera76: 2-YEAR-OLD PUT A LOADED GUN IN THEIR MOUTH AT A RICHMOND DAYCARE WHILE STAFF WERE LOOKING AT THEIR PHONES, STATE SAYS 📍Richmond, Virginia This is every parent's nightmare!! On Sept. 25, at Thrive Learning Center East, a daycare and preschool on Cofer Road in South Richmond, a 2-year-old got hold of a loaded gun and put it in their mouth. Here's what the Virginia Department of Social Services report says happened. Martha Evans, 66, the daycare's co-owner and director, and two other staff members were watching eight kids. Martha brought her loaded gun into the daycare in a fanny pack, and she left that fanny pack unzipped on a low stack of cots in the classroom, about 31 inches off the floor, right at toddler height. A 2-year-old pulled the gun out of the fanny pack and put it in their mouth barrel first. The child put it down, picked it back up, then walked over and set it on a table where five other kids were sitting. Meanwhile, according to the report, Martha and another employee were looking down at their phones. The gun was in that baby's hands for about 15 seconds before anyone noticed. The staff member who finally saw it was putting socks on another child. She jumped up, grabbed the gun, and handed it right back to Martha. And then nobody reported it. Daycares in Virginia have to tell Social Services about something like this within 24 hours. Martha and the two staff members waited four days. The daycare had only opened in March and was running on a provisional license. Inspectors also found other safety violations. The state temporarily shut it down while the Virginia Department of Education investigates, and it was closed by last Friday. Richmond police arrested Martha on Oct. 7. She's charged with having a firearm at a child daycare center and reckless handling of a firearm. She's out on bond and due back in court Dec. 15. If she's convicted of certain crimes, Virginia law could permanently ban her from working or volunteering at any licensed daycare in the state. The Uvalde Foundation, a child safety group started after the Uvalde school shooting, is now calling on Virginia to do an independent safety review of the daycare. Reporters went to the daycare and Martha's home and called her, but she didn't respond. Thank God that baby is OK. 🙏🏼 #viral #fyp #viralvideo #tiktok #trending

The gun should not have been on the premises. If felt it was needed for protection, then they should have had a safe to lock it up. Praise God , his angels were watching over that precious baby. Other than the gun issue, I believe there’s a huge issue with having their heads stuck in the phones at work. They were getting paid to watch these children, teach them new skills, feed them and care for those babies.. Why do people need their personal phones at work anyway? There should be some ruling against that.🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻 Thank you Jesus for keeping those babies safe.🙏🏻
