@dilaudiddaddy: First new class of oral analgesic in 20+ years. Not an opioid. Not even close. Journavx (suzetrigine) selectively blocks NaV1.8, a sodium channel found on peripheral pain nerves. The pain signal stops before it ever reaches the brain. What the data shows: 🔹 Phase 3 tummy tuck trial: beat placebo, matched hydrocodone/APAP 🔹 Phase 4 lap and scope cases with multimodal therapy: 76% went home opioid-free 🔹 No abuse signal in trials so far. Not a controlled substance. What it doesn't show (yet): 🔸 Long-term data. Trials capped at 14 days. 🔸 Superiority over opioids. It tied. 🔸 Cheap. It isn't. Not a miracle. Just the first real alternative we've had in a long time. #anesthesia #healthcare #nurse #medicine #surgery

Why for only 14 days if effective? Some of us need daily pain blockers. Tramadol is horrible, doesn’t help much. Drs are afraid to dx anything. Lyrica helps but only takes the edge off. I’m on max dose now and life still sucks. I miss my Demerol.

I’m gonna go ahead and stick with my frontline pain meds. People, the company that makes journavx is HEAVILY marketing their med to doctors. It might be great, but it might not work for you. Negotiate your post operative pain regimen PRIOR to surgery and be extremely suspicious of any surgeon who advertises “opioid free” procedures. They’re just failing to treat pain in most cases.
