✈️ DUTY-FREE ANNOUNCEMENT PRACTICE 📞 In our Sales and Marketing for Airlines course, students complete a final duty-free sales assignment where they create a sales plan, prepare an inflight announcement, and demonstrate their ability to sell a product to passengers using professional sales techniques. Duty-free sales are also an important source of ancillary revenue for airlines, generating additional income beyond ticket sales while creating opportunities for flight attendants to develop their sales and customer service skills. Depending on the airline’s commission structure, flight attendants may also earn commission on duty-free sales, making strong product knowledge and effective sales techniques even more valuable. In this video, one of my students is practicing their duty-free announcement over the aircraft interphone. Making announcements is an important part of a flight attendant’s role. Students learn how to communicate clearly, use the right tone, project confidence, and sound natural while speaking to an entire cabin. For some students, speaking over the interphone can be nerve-racking, especially when everyone is listening! But that’s exactly why we practice. It’s an opportunity to step outside their comfort zone, overcome those nerves, and build confidence before entering the aviation industry. And one of my favourite parts of teaching is watching that confidence grow!
