Salary doesn't mean they have you for 24hr a day. Salary is supposed to be 40 hrs with the expectation that there will be sometimes be more hrs you MAY have to work, just as much as there would be some weeks where there is less. Companies are using "salary" as well we have you 24hrs a day. No. If normal working hrs are 9 to 5 then that is the expectation not the exception. These companies treat salary as if their staff member is thier slave.

Being on salary is working more than 40 hours as an exception, not the norm. For example, I have two business trips and we work 12 hour days for two weeks. But then there are other times when I leave after four hours of work because I’ve got an appointment. It’s supposed to balance out.
