How to be Humble? [27:40] #Islam #Quran #Humility Genuine question: how do you become humble? It’s a funny one because humility is incredibly important, yet nobody really teaches us how to be humble. The Prophet ﷺ taught that no one will enter Paradise with even an atom’s weight of arrogance in their heart. So how can something so essential be so unclear? It’s not unclear. It’s just that no one taught us. Some people try to become humble by detoxing from social media, putting themselves down, or doing secret deeds that nobody knows about. These can all be good things, but they don’t necessarily remove the pride in your heart. Imagine someone lends you their Bugatti. You drive it around and everyone compliments you. The arrogant person says, “Look how successful I am,” completely taking ownership of something that was only lent to them. We recognise how silly that sounds, but we can do the same with our bodies, our minds, our wealth, our health, our knowledge, and our success. All of it belongs to Allah. And if you try to become humble by saying, “It’s not that nice,” or “I’m not that good,” you’re not really putting yourself down. You’re disparaging the One who gave you the blessing. So what is the correct response? The Quran gives us four words: هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي “This is from the Grace of my Lord.” When the throne of Bilqis appeared before Prophet Sulayman عليه السلام in the blink of an eye, he didn’t deny what happened, claim it for himself, or pretend the blessing was insignificant. He immediately attributed it to Allah. Because humility is recognising that it wasn’t you. Everything you have and everything you have achieved is only by Allah. “Hadha” — this. You acknowledge the blessing. Humility isn’t pretending that something beautiful is ugly. You recognise it as a gift from Allah. “Min” — from. The achievement may have passed through your hands, but it came from Allah. “Fadhl” — favor. It wasn’t something you were owed, and your effort alone could never guarantee it. It was a favor from Allah, and you realise how fortunate you are to have received it. “Rabbi” — my Lord. You recognise that Allah deserves the praise because He is the One who gave you your body, your health, your opportunities, your knowledge, your safety, and the ability to make the effort in the first place. You strive, yes. Your effort is real. But even the strength to make that effort is given to you by Allah. Humility is looking back and noticing every trace of Allah’s favor along the way. So when somebody praises you, how do you act humble? You don’t need to tear yourself down, and you don’t need to own the praise with pride. You redirect the praise to where it truly belongs: Allah. هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي That is how you become humble. #Islam #Quran #Humility #IslamicReminder #Allah #Muslim
