Legally , she fulfilled the early aspects of the contract. Paying her for that absolves him of liability of breach of contract on HIS side. He’s doing it the right way. She will probably walk away with 5k and that is being generous. She will also have to sign papers stopping her from pursuing it any further and stop trashing them. It’s frustrating but smart on their end
