Who Is Responsible for Protecting Orphaned Children in Pakistan? How could an orphanage hand over a vulnerable 15-year-old boy to a private contractor without ensuring his safety, proper supervision and protection? Waseem Abbas was supposed to be under the care of an institution responsible for his welfare, education and future. Instead, he was sent to work under a contractor, and now this innocent child has lost his life in horrifying circumstances. An orphanage is not a labour recruitment agency. Children without parental protection deserve greater care, not greater exposure to exploitation and danger. This case raises extremely serious questions about child protection, safeguarding procedures and possible violations of Pakistan's child labour laws. The authorities must investigate not only the man accused of killing Waseem but also the orphanage administration. Who authorised his placement? What background checks were conducted? Who monitored his safety? Were other children sent to similar workplaces? If negligence or illegal child labour arrangements are established, everyone responsible must face legal consequences. Justice for Waseem Abbas. Protect Pakistan's orphaned children. No child should ever be treated as disposable labour.
