@leadingentrepreneurs: Terry Crews was playing professional football, but he was barely making enough to support his family. During his time with the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, he reportedly earned just $150 a week. His NFL dream wasn't paying the bills. But Crews had another talent. Before football, he had earned an art scholarship and developed serious painting skills. Whenever a team cut him, he returned to the locker room and offered to paint portraits of his former teammates. The commissions paid around $4,000 to $5,000 each. Some paintings took nearly two months to complete, but the money helped keep his family afloat while he waited for another opportunity in football. His artistic ability became a lifeline when his sports career was uncertain. Years before becoming a Hollywood star, Crews was already learning a powerful lesson: never depend on just one skill. Football didn't provide lasting security, but his ability to create something valuable gave him another way to survive and keep moving forward.
