I know it's a skit, but when I had both of my kids, the Nurse came in and verified the spelling of each and every name. But if that were my mother-in-law, she'd never see my baby again EVER!!!

when I had my son the nurse filled out the paperwork for us and asked the spelling of the name directly after he was put of me while we were getting all the checks done on him. no chance for interference

The papers are given to the parents usually the baby mother. And never to anyone else. Well that's in New Zealand
