The key is learning to load, rotate and launch into the court โ creating a strong, explosive return while maintaining balance, timing and forward momentum. Here are 3 progressions to build an effective return motion, from isolated movement patterns to the full return ๐ 1๏ธโฃ ๐๐๐
Start loaded on your left leg, with your right leg hovering just above the ground. Focus on creating a strong base before striking the ball. After contact, drive through your right leg and transfer your body weight into the court for a powerful, forward-moving finish.
Start in a neutral, straight-on stance. As you initiate your unit turn, plant your left leg, find your contact zone and explode forward into the court. This progression helps connect your loading pattern with your rotation, contact point and forward momentum.
Now bring it all together by introducing the split step before your return. As you perform the full movement, focus on the key cues from the previous progressions: exaggerate a strong left leg load and LAUNCH into the court after contact! Master these 3 progressions to build a more explosive, balanced and aggressive return of serve. ๐๐พ #tennis #tennisplayer #tenniscoach #fyp #tennistraining
