The convictions were the result of a vicious assault that occurred on August 14, 2023, at the BH Mallorca Resort hotel. According to reports, the group enticed the "semi-conscious" victim to Room 108, where they subjected her to a half-hour ordeal of physical violence and degradation while recording the events on mobile phones. The investigation determined that two of the men provided the victim with alcohol prior to inviting a group of strangers from a hotel corridor to engage in "free sex." The Civil Guard reported that the men conspired to share videos of the assault on Snapchat with the intention of demeaning the victim. The prosecution reported that 14 distinct videos of the rape were present on the phone of one defendant. Investigators described the videos as depicting the men laughing and encouraging one another during the three-minute recording. Investigative Detail and Judicial Findings The court reported that the group displayed a complete lack of respect for the victim's life and dignity, as they referred to her as a "cow" in their social media transactions. The victim was able to escape the room and notify the hotel staff, who subsequently identified multiple perpetrators after the police deceived them into disclosing their identities by calling the victim's stolen phone. This case was heard by the Court in Palma. The investigation clearly demonstrated that the men's objective was to infringe upon the victim's privacy and exploit the hotel room's "secluded" atmosphere to facilitate the gang assault. The Sentencing Judge observed that the group's sentence was initially 151 years; however, it was subsequently reduced to 73 years as a result of their guilty pleas. The men—including Anthony G, Anthony A, Khalil A, Thomas E, Romain C, and Lucas H—were issued a variety of custodial sentences in accordance with their level of involvement in the Magaluf incident.
