Let’s even leave material things aside, some don’t even have the personality they are looking for in someone else. You want someone that’s caring, but you care less. You want someone that’s honest and sincere but you’re a very strategic and selfish person. The list goes on.. if there’s something I’ve come to accept, it’s, don’t ask or expect what you can’t give. If you feel you deserve something, be able to give it too, it’ll help you avoid people that doesn’t fit into your life. And yes, this applies to both material things too.

I always say this, and honestly, I’m tired of trying to explain it. You cannot expect what you are not willing to be or give. Energies should be reciprocated positively. If one person is doing better and genuinely trying to make things work, the other should be willing to learn, adapt, and grow too. Two people who are intentional about making things work can make the journey so much easier. But when one person is constantly trying to keep the ship afloat, the weight becomes too much. Eventually, they begin to lose themselves in the process. It drains them. I acknowledge that I’m a work in progress, and I constantly strive to become a better version of myself. Honestly, I do not want to be with someone who makes me become a version of myself I fought so hard not to be. It took a lot to become the person I am today, and I refuse to lose that version of myself trying to make a relationship work.
