@freedom_voice_: Seattle's mayor is putting taxpayer money behind a $4 million fund helping illegal immigrants with legal defense. Residents have every right to question that choice and ask what else the city could be doing with the money. A legal-services program still comes with a bill, and calling it compassionate doesn't remove the need to explain why taxpayers should cover it. Public funds aren't the mayor's personal donation. Conservative taxpayers want the city's priorities spelled out plainly. Who qualifies, what services are funded, and how is the spending checked? People can support fair hearings and still oppose making local taxpayers pay for this program. The mayor needs to defend the decision to the public footing the cost.
