If your job isn’t rated as a GS/12/13/14 etc. they can’t just make you one. If you are set as a solid GS9, then that’s it. Unless I missed something major.

I think this is a good/bad idea ONLY because there will be some Branch Chiefs/Supervisors that will try to get the work around because they have favoritism smh 🤦🏻‍♀️

Agencies can still set their own job related promotion req including a minimum time in grade. So the change may create more flexibility in some workplaces than others.

I will say my husband was very fortunate because when he retire from( USAF) his civil service boss at the time waited to open up a GS9 job for him. Also when that boss retired he got that GS11/13 slot also.

I saw position that was literally closing two weeks before I hit my 52 weeks as a GS 7 that was a GS 9/11 and it literally told me that I did not qualify!!! removing this I think it’s a good thing and a bad thing….. Some people shouldn’t qualify and some people should

The only one getting promoted in the federal government job that I have are the big higher-ups. They’re creating jobs, entitled for them all and we have been left behind. They’re only promoting their own and giving them the higher salary.
