We have a rule that none of our kids can go and do any kind of activity that includes water(swimming pools, lakes, rivers etc) with out us. Some of my family got upset and said we didnt trust them.

Absolutely never ever leave any child with grandparents at their house. It doesn’t matter if kids can swim or not. Even kids who can swim can panic when pushed or fall into a pool.

Auto cover, we had one on our pool, when pool isn’t in use pool is closed! Easy remedy.

Where I live it is illegal not to have a fence around a pool and for good reason... children can drown in minutes. I would not let my children to the grandparents house unless I was with them. The grandfather sounds difficult and his number one priority should be his grandchildren's safety and if it isn't then don't let the children visit without you...

My in-laws drove with my kids. My youngest was four without car seats. She called me controlling when I said I didn’t trust her to watch the kids.

then kids don't go over, child safety is not negotiable, the grandparents set up safety measures and watch the kids or then don't get to have them alone. it's hard especially with parents and family to not wanna start something but children need to be watched in water so nothing happens

Listen its your job as a parent to advocate for your kids. Safety is nonnegotiable. We can all visit but the kids will not be here alone because of the pool. If they get mad then oh well. You’ll get glad in the same pants you got mad in.
