@aspace2write: What would you say to an aspiring author if one of their goals was to become famous? #writersoftiktok #aspiringauthor #publishingjourney
Comic artist here. I get what you mean. Years ago, I was talking to a friend, he wanted to be a famous writer while I told him I just want to make comics. He got curious and ask me "but don't you want to be famous for your comics ?". While fame is nice and all, for me, my biggest goal is to materialize my stories into comics before I die and take them with me.

focus on the JOURNEY, not on the OUTCOME. If you’re lucky, the outcome will match your dreams.

I think if the goal is to become famous, they're doing it for the wrong reasons. To me it's the opposite - I'm terrified of that side of success (not that I'd ever have to worry about it 🤣). I haven't chosen to write, writing has chosen me - from a young age there has been a pull inside me that's been making me write; express feelings and thoughts on paper; invent stories. Call me old-fashioned or naive, I think that the goal should be to create something meaningful that lasts.

It’s strange because now it almost like you have to become famous BEFORE publishing. My novella publisher asked me if I have social media presence, how many followers do I have, what famous author do I know, etc. 😅 None. None. And none. Anyway, I just want my work to be read as many people as possible, so that’s part of wanting to be famous. It’s not like I want my house to be toured by Architectural Digest or anything.

I just want to be good, not famous
