@thestonedathomemom: I chose to garden during pregnancy because in 2020, I was BEGGING for help managing my debilitating Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). My son was born healthy at 7 lbs, 12 oz, and is now a happy, thriving six-year-old with no cognitive or developmental concerns. Being able to keep food and water down mattered when HG had already put me at risk for complications, including dehydration, malnutrition, low birth weight, and preterm birth. Throughout my pregnancy, the ONLY treatment offered to me was Zofran. I was never offered a better alternative, and I couldn’t access options I WOULD have felt more comfortable with, like Diclegis. I was left navigating a debilitating condition without the care I desperately needed. So let’s talk about the bigger picture. The risks associated with untreated HG were ALREADY there. Medication risks deserved honest discussion, too. And the potential risks of garden exposure during pregnancy deserve serious consideration too. But why are we willing to acknowledge the risks of a mother’s medical condition while refusing to have an honest conversation about her options? Why is the answer so often to simply suffer through it? Why are mothers told they don’t deserve children if they couldn’t “put it down for nine months,” as though debilitating illness magically disappears during pregnancy? I’m NOT here to convince every pregnant person to garden. My experience does not establish safety for everyone, and I will never pretend otherwise. Pregnancy-specific research remains limited, and potential risks matter. But uncertainty should mean MORE research, honest conversations, individualized care, and informed consent. It should NOT mean shaming mothers, dismissing their suffering, or pretending “do nothing” is always the most compassionate answer. I’ve created FREE downloadable research journals, harm-reduction guides, and educational resources to help mothers understand the available evidence, its limitations, and their options. Because a debilitating condition does not make you less deserving of motherhood. Needing relief does not make you a bad mother. And pregnancy should NEVER mean surrendering your right to participate in decisions about your own healthcare. END THE STIGMA. START THE CONVERSATION. 🩷🌿 Free resources 🔗ed in bio. Before anyone decides to judge: women can DIE from hyperemesis gravidarum. We literally have to do whatever we can to stay alive. There’s no treatment.

Mind yall…even Zofran has risks. Every medication has risks. We need more research into medical cannabis!

My mom gardened while pregnant w me and I was born w 3 heart defects (the specific heart defects are proven to be associated with prenatal 🍃 use (not in all cases tho) I’m only saying this to encourage the moms to be to make sure you’re discussing this w your doctor first!! Be safe!!

My best friend was actually told to smoke cannabis by her doctor because of the same issue! He said it was definitely less harmful than her not getting nutrients to the baby due to puking constantly 😭

If it was really as bad as everybody is saying, it would not be prescribed to pregnant women to help with a number of things

It’s the onlyyyy way I survived. I was even on a Zofran pump and still dry heaving. It was awful.

I did the same and I have never told anyone except my partner. It was so hard. There were weeks where I couldn’t eat. It helped so much and my baby boy is healthy and so bright at 21 months❤️
