A 61-year-old predatory sex offender from Bolton who sexually assaulted two young girls and held thousands of indecent images has been jailed for 12 years. The court heard that Mark Edmonds, of Bolton, was arrested in February after a brave survivor disclosed that he had been sexually touching her and taking inappropriate photographs. A second young victim was identified after confiding in a friend that Edmonds had been forcing her into sexual activity. Greater Manchester Police’s Child Protection Investigation Unit seized his electronic devices, uncovering over 3,000 indecent images of children, including pictures of the two victims. Confronted with the evidence, Edmonds pleaded guilty to 15 charges, including eight counts of sexual assault and producing first-generation illicit imagery. On 16 October 2026, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, alongside an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and indefinite restraining orders.
