@dershpiel: Jewish billionaire and Mets owner Steve Cohen’s firm joined an $80 million investment in Oro Mobility, the Hertz-backed company preparing to manage self-driving taxi fleets. The money comes from several investors, including Cohen Private Ventures. Cohen’s individual contribution was not disclosed. Oro handles charging, cleaning, maintenance and repairs. It already operates about 45,000 vehicles across its businesses, including cars used by human rideshare drivers. The company will also support Uber’s planned robotaxi service using Lucid vehicles with Nuro’s self-driving technology, expected to launch in the San Francisco Bay Area later this year. Hertz will keep majority economic ownership. The funding will help Oro expand its vehicles, facilities, technology and staff.
