@pbsdigitalstudios: What does it mean to be part of the African diaspora? Ritual host Tank Ball of @tankandthebangas shares the story of Gullah Geechee people, and how their heritage, traditions and culture is still preserved today. #ritual #culture #gullahgeechee
The reason they connect us to Africa today. Fun fact: Gullah Geechee didn't march or advocate for Black American liberation. They helped to hold meetings, benefited from our advocacy, and petitioned for their own land rights and preservation of culture. Similar to Africans on the continent... Flat Blkness exists for their benefit.

Not only are we African descendants we are from tge “sea coast islands areas” please be respectful of our culture, history, and heritage if you know nothing about it. If you haven’t been raised in the culture, then respectfully, it’s not yours to claim if you have family that was, then that’s them, it’s not a trend it’s a way of life, a culture and history. It’s okay to want to learn more but a lot of things being posted is misinformation and very disrespectful to the true Gullah Geechee and community

I lived in the Lowcountry for years and the culture of Gullah and Geechee is extraordinary and wonderful. I love learning about it. I never knew about it until moving there. It is horrible that development is pushing the communities out, especially in SC.

I moved to Mount Pleasant South Carolina when I was 14 from Texas, and when I tell you that language and the accent threw me off, but I absolutely love it

Not disagreeing with what the lady is saying but also Some ppls lineage are more African based an others indigenous based an others even European based , it’s fluid depending on region and the individual.
