Wow. We are only recommended to have a pap smear every 5 years in NZ- we also get given a swab and do it ourselves now

I work in outreach and education with PP and we are using teals. We partnered with them for their trials. About 80% of women who refused a pap, were willing to use the teal. For those with previous trauma, Who were refusing for that reason, 100% of the ones we asked in my group, said yes. So it has its wins.

the smear test in Ireland only tests for HPV now 😭 I feel like they should be checking for abnormal cells like they used to

I kinda was in the age range that the hpv vaccine missed me, all my gynos (they just keep leaving the practice) all say I don’t need it at this point in my 40s, I don’t know if I believe this

Ladies. DO NOT SKIP THAT APPOINTMENT. Make time for it, take a deep breath (bc no one likes a pelvic exam) and do it. It's up to US to advocate for our health.

As someone who had severe dysplasia and had to have a LEEP, I will forever do my annual paps. It sucks but you know what sucks more? Cancer.

You can still get HPV even if you get the gardisil vaccine… even the high risk ones.

I have extreme pain with a speculum, to the point that I skipped a pap for like 10 years. It was really not good. I finally went earlier this year, but even zonked on Ativan it hurt like hell. Anything I can do without a speculum I am ecstatic to have.
