GO SEE THIS MOVIE!! If this movie fails at the box office we 100% won’t get another stop motion from Laika again

medleytrey :
Nike's founder essentially funds Laika because stop motion is his son's passion. it's why they consistently produce such high quality, pain stakingly created works that only have comparatively modest BO returns

It’s so important to be support this nearly lost art of stop motion!

To be fair, the criticism of the film being derivative, is the same criticism as the book…which it is based on. I think the film does an amazing job breathing life into the source material that, yes, does recycle a many fairytale tropes, but it’s does so in a way that I think is supposed to mirror the city of Portland. Which, as a native, is somewhat of a mashing of other cities. Seattle, San Francisco, Portland Maine, etc. I attended the fan showing last night and thoroughly enjoyed the film. It also definitely earned its PG13 rating.

Anyone who is concerned about the use of AI in films or the lack of original stories NEEDS to support this film. It’s a piece of art and we have to show studios that this is what we want.

saw it last night — this film is genuinely incredible and the love and care of the artists who worked on it truly leaps from the screen. I can assure people that awkwafina is delivered in stomachable doses, so all good there

To this day I still have hard time fully believe all these are truly stop motion animation because they are just too good.

Wasn’t Coraline also in Oregon? I know the book wasn’t but I thought that the movie was. I could be wrong.

I was a huge Wildwood fan as a kid and to hear people casually mention things from the story like the dowager-governess now is insane to me. this movie is going to be so special to me
