You can speed it up with higher voltage. Also, a double pole double throw switch will do the polarity switching for you if you wire it properly.

I got an idea for you get a hydraulic pump for plough and hook it up to the front flywheel of the motor with a bracket and use hydraulic ram off of a plough so it could go up and down with the controls
