I remember I had a friend that was an atheist. A friend invited her to Shoreline and that day she said it felt like what she was missing. She gave her life to God and got involved. One of the lead singers took interest in her and they started dating. Turns out he was engaged. He told her he was broken up but the fiancé was just in OK for medical issues. When the church found out, the pastors called her and attacked her! Shunned her from the church. The man and his fiancé went on to get married. And that’s why I’ll never step foot there.

I 100% agree with you. As soon as I step in shoreline it felt more like an aesthetic instagram church. I didn’t feel God there at all.

I was an intern there for over a year (my choice) and it breaks my heart everyday what has happened to that “church” Earl was truly incredible, I still try to only think the best of him because he was always so kind. I have theories of what has happened and I don’t think Earl is or ever has been the problem. HOWEVER, they have in fact lost the plot. It’s been a problem for a very long time. It’s sadly why I left. It wasn’t a church anymore, but rather a social club! 😭

it was a very shallow experience for my family. the people there were very shallow and status driven. so if you didn’t look aesthetic or work in a bougie job, no one was interested. no follow up, nothing. i agree with you. it was a horrible experience. we left after 6 months because it was terrible.

I really like Pastor Earls messages most time but yes, the people there are not it. It also did bug me that once last year when people were talking about “mega churches” in his sermon he said “I never want it to be considered that, I don’t even know what that is” like sir. Don’t lie lol. In Dallas it is considered that & they all well know it. I stopped going & stream it from time to time but would enjoy finding a church that just focuses on the word. I don’t need a concert or a fashion show every single time. & yes I know it’s worship but they do too much sometimes. Just my opinion 😃😅

I agree 100%, I would only go for pastor Earl & a lot of the people that go there are maga and you can’t serve God AND maga so that told me a lot about the people there [Crying]

I attended for a bit a few years ago - they introduced the pyramid where you could kinda “pay your way” into the inner church circle by giving your money and time lol whatever that means? So you don’t have to be a good person just willing to donate? which is kind of wild. I noticed the business owners that are heavily involved there all have the same stuck up demeanor and cash grab business model with the same boring aesthetic and marketing person. it doesn’t feel welcoming or like “church” should feel (grew up Baptist) I DO fit the “aesthetic” but I want it to be genuine. Earl’s messages are great but in general it was a lot of accosting for donations and not enough resources for those in need in the church community itself not 1,000 miles away… which is nice but like fry the fish you have under your roof first.

I went in 2017 and they have always been about fashion and aesthetics. It should be called fashionline city. Try Trinity church in Cedar Hill! Thousand percent recommend

I’m so sorry that this was your experience. I went to a mega church in Maryland for about 6 months. My husband and I felt so heavy in our hearts that this wasn’t the place for us. So we decided to look for a new church and visited the church across the street from our apartment. It was a small church, but it felt so much like home. We unfortunately had to move about 2 hours away a year and some change later. Our pastor took the time during the service to allow the church to come say their goodbyes. They gave us a beautiful card and flowers. I have unfortunately not been able to find another church like them since. But I know God blessed us with them, he won’t leave us hanging. I hope you all can find a true church home that can be a great supplement to your growing faith. Don’t stop looking, and don’t sleep on the smaller churches.

If anyone is looking for a home church I would highly recommend Watermark specifically the South Dallas campus … it is small , very community oriented , you will likely get to meet and talk to the pastor cause he makes it his business to connect with all the members !! Everyone is so sweet and nice .. they only have one service it’s at 3pm

I went every Sunday at the old building for like 2 years, I loved it and it truly changed my life. The new building feels off and idk it’s a weird feeling. I don’t feel pretty enough to be there.

yea, i used to work in the cafe and it was full of mean girls. if you don’t look the part they will box you out. and i used to like it there, but it just feels scripted. someone will greet you and be overly nice get your number and then will act like they don’t know you when you come to church and they see you
