@inside.truecrimes: The strange death of Elisa Lam Elisa Lam was a 21 year old Canadian tourist whose disappearance and death became globally one of the biggest true crime phenomenons. Lam was last seen alive on Jan 31st 2013 in the hotel she was staying at, the Cecil Hotel in LA. While the case of her disappearance was ongoing, LAPD released CCTV footage of Lam in an elevator at the hotel. The footage was bizarre - she was acting erratically - pressing every button, stepping in and out of the elevator and acting as though someone was following her. A couple of weeks after her disappearance, hotel guests began complaining of low water pressure and water discolouration. Maintainence crews came to open a rooftop tank and see what caused the issues, and found Elisa Lam's body inside. Her death was ruled as an accident - accidental drowning - due to her not taking her medication earlier that day, which may have led to her falling into the tank and drowning while not being in the right state of mind. Online people were speculating how it was possible for her to open the tank to let herself in and close the lid on herself. It took 4 men to open the tank lid upon inspection. Was it really an accidental drowning? What really happened to her? What was she running from? How did she end up in the tank?
