People are arguing with me that Will Smith was Fresh Prince before the show, like that somehow negates the tv show and its influence in culture & in the actors’ lives… (and isn’t problematic on its own given Will is a black man and we know black men are historically/stereotypically seen as more violent etc so for a white man to invoke physical violence in this reference is bad in another light but that’s another conversation)
