@tomharkermusic: Living here has taught me that protests are part of French life. But that doesn’t mean everything is business as usual. There are real problems, and the situation is serious, BUT… I’m not gonna die you guys lol. Calm down. I’m just sharing my perspective as an American living here. Do you think the international media accurately portrays what’s happening in France and Saturday October 17th??? #france #americaninparis #studentprotest #protest #blocus

As Mexican and American, living in Arras, my mother keeps telling me to be careful and safe from this like mom! I would be more scared to be at a school in the States or to be in the streets of Mexico than what is happening here plus I’m not even near any big city or Paris dealing with this. Plus French ppl are allowed to protest ! 😭😂

As a European it is so strange to see americans in full blown panic, cancelling trips to France. Calm down - yes we have demonstrations here, yes it can get heatet, but no way near the horrible things that are happening in the US. AND - look into the dates, the demonstrations have dates, like the 17th was a date of demonstration. And most of them were peacefull.

Protest are our family reunion we are resolving family affairs . The sense of collective is ingrained in us . Liberté , Egalité, Fraternité are not vain words but principles we want to live by .

on a subreddit for travels some American was searching for heavy discounts I hotels for November/December and was surprised to only find the off season 20% discount. wdym I paris only 1 street in 1000 was affected, in 2 weeks the repairs are done, and yes France is not only paris.

Im french and my wife is American. She’s living here in Paris with me for 6 years now. She keeps saying she’s feeling way safer here than in the US. She was laughing at the texts we were having from the US abt the protests lol

I’m a foreigner living in Dijon working in Lyon. The only thing I’ve felt threatened by is the cops during the manifs, because they are unhinged and unpredictable. To tourists that don’t go to manifs that’s pretty avoidable.

I’ve seen some American tourist during our protest , they look like they were running from the devil ( well it was actually an equivalent, brav m ) but I think that for those who are not currently in France , it’s mainly because from outside if you only see 2-3 videos you’ll assume that the country is being destroyed

Bro I’m french, I also thought that those attacks were happening only to others. Until the moment when it happened to me, when two guys put a knife on my neck in Grenoble in 2009. I left France in 2018, I now live in Estonia and I spend the winters in Asia (Thailand or Bali) and I can guarantee you that those countries are much safer than France.
