@mrjebsmith: 🏡 464 NEW HOMES COULD BE COMING TO HUNTINGTON BEACH! Two former elementary school properties could soon be transformed into housing developments after the Ocean View School District voted to move forward with exploring redevelopment plans. Here’s what’s being proposed. 👇 🏠 PLEASANT VIEW ELEMENTARY Located on Landau Lane, this school closed in 1985 and sits on approximately 11 acres. • 152 homes available for purchase • At least 13% reserved for qualified school district employees • Additional green space and preservation of the existing neighborhood park 🏘️ SUN VIEW ELEMENTARY Located on Juliette Low Drive, this school closed in 2018 and sits on approximately 13 acres. • 312 affordable rental homes • More than 65% offering 2–4 bedrooms • Workforce housing for multiple income levels • Recreational areas and parking 💰 WHAT’S IN IT FOR THE DISTRICT? The district would retain ownership of both properties while potentially generating $1.5 MILLION annually to support schools and educational programs. 🚧 IS THIS APPROVED? Not yet! Traffic, parking, environmental impacts, and neighborhood concerns still need to be evaluated. The plans could change before final approval. 💬 WHAT DO YOU THINK? Would you rather see these vacant schools turned into housing or public parks? school district I went too. I remember when they closed those schools, I think they did a few cycles of closing them between 1985 and 1990.

I would prefer seeing a mixed usage of a park and homes similar to Westminster and Fountain Valley. It would be nice to have a few small businesses too nearby.

Those aren’t homes, those are human store houses, glorified apartments to collect new property taxes to support public sector pension and free stuff

Interesting because once those families have children, where will they attend school?
