@mollypelletier.rd: If even plain water feels like reflux, your nerves may be part of the story. I remember thinking, how could water possibly be giving me reflux? What I didn't realize at the time is that it wasn't exactly reflux. My body was perceiving it as a reflux symptom. Esophageal hypersensitivity happens when, after a long stretch of GERD or LPR, the nerves in the esophagus and throat stay turned up, so anything passing through, even water, can register as heartburn or throat clearing. It's really common when you have a history of GERD, and it tends to settle as reflux comes under better control and the irritated tissue calms down. The full episode covering all three reasons water can trigger symptoms is on my YouTube, Molly Pelletier RD. Follow for more. 💚 #acidreflux #GERD #refluxtok #LPR #silentreflux
