@abdimarihotmarbun: October 20th - Saint of the Day: Saint Maria Bertilla Boscardin, Virgin, Hospital Nurse & Religious Sister Her own town called her "the goose" because they thought she was too dumb to matter. Her priest doubted her. Her classmates mocked her. Her father was violent and drunk. So she walked into a convent and said the most audacious sentence ever: "I'm a poor thing, a goose. Teach me. I want to become a saint." They handed her a potato peeler. She said yes anyway. Then came the hospital ward, the sick kids who adored her, and the night bombs fell on her city while she refused to leave the patients who couldn't run. In 1961, the Church canonized her. In the crowd stood the very patients she once nursed. The world said goose. Heaven said saint.
