Honestly is weeding out the ‘engineers’ from the ‘programmers’. As a data engineer, I love the problem solving, architecting, and architecture to build a reliant system so solve business issues. Coding is cool for an hour then I’m tired of it

AI is just a tool, they aint replacing no engineers. Its just how to things get engineered now vs before and new problems will come from how quick things get developed. That will generate new problems to solve using AI.

anthropic lost 80 billion dollars in the first half of the year. AI is way over extending itself. the data centers they are building are going to be obsolete in 5 years, this will be cyclical. it will not last on a massive scale

I think the software developers are panic diving into every other tech job title and at the same time nobody has any effing idea what DevOps/SRE/Platform does they just pretend to and recruiters are in the trenches trying to figure out what is going on too. And PEOPLE ARE LOSING TROUBLESHOOTING BRAIN YOU CANNOT JUST NOT HAVE THAT 😩

As a solution architect, I use AI but the literal amount of time I spend telling it what to do is significant. It can get a big picture, but the details are often wrong and need to be changed. And Im putting 15-20 systems together in varying ways and AI doesnt know what to do.

Forward deployed engineer = solutions architect or integration engineer. It’s not a new paradigm and takes a level of expertise. And domain knowledge but a good field nonetheless

I think the ai apocalypse is a psyop because the frontier models want regulation so they can close the door behind them and remain an oligarchy. Too much of the information that ai needs remains fragmented and unstructured. You need a Sherpa aka a FDE that can understand both business-scapes and data-scapes and build the solution themselves.

Forward deployed engineer means someone who embeds in a client company to solve their problems with product integration. Not sure how you feel they will avoid AI based layoffs
