Original Video Credit: IG/jeabpani At Tsubohachi in Thailand, diners get to catch their noodles before they can eat them. A tall, transparent spiral slide carries chilled somen noodles downward in a steady stream of water, while guests wait at the bottom with chopsticks. The noodles travel around the central column before reaching the collection basin, turning an ordinary meal into a surprisingly entertaining experience. Known as nagashi somen, the concept comes from a Japanese dining tradition where thin wheat noodles are carried along a flowing stream of cold water. The movement is driven by gravity, with water transporting the lightweight noodles through a channel. Traditional versions often use split bamboo troughs, while modern restaurant adaptations feature circulating water systems and elaborate spiral tracks that bring the experience directly to the table. Nagashi somen is particularly associated with Japanese summers, when cold noodles offer a refreshing alternative to hot meals. The practice is as much about the experience as the food, encouraging diners to interact with their meal rather than simply having it served on a plate. Restaurants have adapted the tradition with increasingly creative equipment, preserving the original idea while making it accessible to families and diners outside Japan. #shorts #Science #education #learn #invention
