@oak.therapy: You can care about someone deeply and still need a boundary. Boundaries are: Telling truth about what works for you. Honoring your capacity. Protecting your energy. Sometimes disappointing others. Always healthy. Boundaries are NOT: Punishment. Rejection of the person. Unkind. Selfish. Negotiable based on guilt. Example: Your parent calls 10x/day. You set boundary = 'I can talk once daily, 15 minutes. I love you and need this for my wellbeing.' They get upset. This is them feeling the boundary. It doesn't mean the boundary is wrong. Key principle: Boundaries are ultimately loving, both to others and yourself. They create sustainable relationships. Without boundaries: Resentment builds. You become depleted. The relationship suffers. With boundaries: Clarity. Respect. Sustainable care. Boundary setting is one of the most therapeutic skills you can practice. What's ONE boundary you need to set?
