I mean, I have been to other touristy cities, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Helsinki. What shocked me in Paris was the smell, I have never encountered a big city that smelled so violently of piss.

What’s crazy is Iv been to Paris three times and I don’t think Iv ever experienced anything that would break my romanticized perception of the city. Like it genuinely really is that cool and whimsical and peaceful.

I grew up in French school with extremely mean and strict French teachers and I have never been shocked by any of the behavior I have witnessed there 😂 I love Paris despite it all. They are kind of nicer to me than my parents though because I have the accent

Lol I went in High School and honestly didn’t know much about it other than they spoke french. I remember it had a fuel/traffic smell but the bread was amazing.

I could talk about this for HOURS as someone who used to work at WDW but now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. We have similar issues here, and it’s because people treat visiting these cities like they are visiting a theme park of their favorite stories, and cannot cope with the reality that it is just a city.
