@therealdjkazofficial: 🎧 The Mexican by Jellybean Benitez | The Sound That Helped Pave the Way for Freestyle! 🔥 Before Freestyle became the sound of New York’s dance floors, there were records that helped build its foundation! In today’s episode, DJ KAZ takes you back to 1984, when legendary DJ and producer John “Jellybean” Benitez released his electrifying version of “The Mexican,” featuring vocals by Jenny Haan. Originally recorded by British rock group Babe Ruth in 1972, this record was transformed into a dance-floor powerhouse, blending rock influences, Latin percussion, electro rhythms, and that unmistakable New York club energy! 🔥 It wasn’t quite Freestyle yet, but it helped shape the musical landscape that Freestyle would emerge from. 🎶 From the clubs of New York to a whole new generation of dance music! 💬 Do you remember hearing “The Mexican” back in the day? Where did you first dance to it? I’m DJ KAZ, keeping our music, our history, and our culture alive! #JellybeanBenitez #TheMexican #FreestyleHistory #DJKAZ #oldschooldancemusic

Yeah, I remember seeing the kids break dancing on card board boxes cut up flat on the ground to that song along with another single in that time called, Just Begon. That opened the doors wide open for Free Style to spead like crazy. Those were most definitely the dayz especially when it started hitting the clubs hard. It blew every body's mind big time.

Great history lesson as always bro. There was another version before Jellybean in 1978 by The Bombers. It was more of a Disco version.

Been waiting for this one. I knew this story, but I didn’t know the total significance of Baby Ruth’s track on early Freestyle. I would say that First Base DEFINITELY deserves a place in Freestyle history.

Just my opinion, but you should let the song you’re talking about play at the end of your videos. Only like 10 or 15 seconds of it. I love your content, but I find myself having to look up the song later because you talked about it, but never let us listen to what you were talking about.
