my mother hated my father so much when she found out she had cancer (operable and curable), she chose to die instead and not tel anyone until it was to late. Death was her way out from him, as he'd made her feel worthless for so many years. For that he will never be forgiven.

Sounds like my grandparents. They were married 57 years when my Gpa died. I will never forget the day we buried him, I was just 18. My Gma was staring out the big bay windows of the living room, quiet , all alone. I walked beside her & and said, Im so sorry Papa is gone, I know how much you will miss him. She turned & looked at me & said "57 years is a long time, too long, live your life before you even think about giving it all up for a man" she turned & walked away. I learned right then & there that things are never what they seem.
